David Lee Johnson, age 73, of Petaluma, CA passed away peacefully on Dec. 3rd, 2018, three months after his cancer diagnosis.  Born on March 15, 1945, in Lexington, KY, to Jean Barbera Davi & John Porter Johnson, a tenacious Tobacco Farmer. Petaluma High Class of 1963.  Known for his kind and friendly demeanor and remarkable musical abilities, Dave was an extremely artistic and creative person who always had a cheerful outlook on life, grand sense of humor & strong connection with his heavenly father.  His many joys in life included raising his five children, writing music with catchy lyrics, singing and playing his guitar, creating artworks & connecting with people. Dave had a strong moral compass and always saw magic & beauty in the little things.  Some of his favorite memories growing up, were times spent at his Grandfather’s home on Kentucky Street, who taught him so much about his Italian culture & traditions, shenanigans with his two brothers & great times with his high school buddies back in the day!  He was fortunate to have traveled abroad while working aboard Carnival Cruise Ships, enjoyed his time spent working for Adobe Harvest Catering, Sonoma Joe’s, Longs in Petaluma, had many adventures throughout California as Tour Guide for Western Charter, and bus driver for Petaluma Transit.  Dave leaves behind the loves of his life; his former wife, Connie Johnson of Petaluma, and their five children; Michael Johnson, Michelle King (Russ), Jennifer Hirschmugl (Jon), Amy Johnson & Katie Johnson, all of Petaluma, his six grandchildren whom he adored; Tyler, Gavin, Hayden, Hazel, Henri & Ben, & his two beloved brothers, Frank Johnson, of Nashville, AR, & Stanley Johnson, of Menlo Park, CA as well as many nieces, nephews & cousins.  He was the most warm & loving dad anyone could ask for. Somewhere in heaven there is an angel with a big grin, playing “Sesame Roll” on a steel string guitar! We will miss you, Dad.

A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held in January, please call (707) 971-1056 for info.
