Dorothy “Dee” Mitchell Seward from Peoria, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Marshall, California, on November 30, 2017.  She was born on December 9, 1924 to John and Clara Lenzen Mitchell in Oakland, California.  After the death of her father, Clara and Dee moved to Wisconsin and later to Chicago.  Dee attended Bradley University where she met Ralph E. Seward.  They were married in Chicago in 1946.  They were later divorced.  Dr. Ralph Seward (Rita) of Peoria, IL survives.

Also surviving are their three children – Nancy (Dr. Steven) Sicher of Peoria, IL/Marshall,  CA; Ralph E. Seward Jr. of Flagler Beach, FL; and Jeanne (Vance) Parkhurst of Tucson, AZ.  Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive – Peter and Kristin Sicher with baby William Paul of New York, NY; Dr. Sarah Dorothy (Adam) Salky and baby Elliot Grace of South Pasadena, CA; David S. Sicher of Los Angeles, CA; Christopher C. Parkhurst of Los Angeles, CA; and Katherine G. Parkhurst (Trevor Munoz) of College Park, MD.

Dee had many wonderful friends spanning her years on Moss Avenue, her years at Saint Marks Parish, and her golf league years to her last home at B’nai B’rith.  She enjoyed golf, bowling, reading and bridge.  She also had a passion for cooking, knitting, and painting.  She loved to travel and delighted in many family vacations from coast to coast.  Her deep faith and trust in God showed through her love and kindness to all.

There will be a family memorial service in Peoria at a later date with entombment at Resurrection Mausoleum.
