On 14 March 2019 the world lost an amazing man, with his family by his side.
Born in Old Town, Maine on July 17th, 1947 to parents Melvin Stairs and Lilian Stairs (Burr).  Attended Parkville Senior High School in Parkville, Maryland participating in multiple sports and academic clubs.  He still holds many long distance running records at the High School level in Maryland.  Doug earned a Masters of Business Administration from Santa Clara University in which he used over 30+ years to champion multiple organizations to success using his professional guidance and hard-nosed work ethic.  He served in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Command Sergeants Major with 28 years of service in the US Army.  He will always be remembered a loving father, a humble mentor, and reliable friend.

He is survived by his sons Douglass (wife Elizabeth) and Gregory Stairs, his Daughter Melanie Rose, his sisters Judith Deem and Helen (husband Robert) Goodwin, Sister-in-law Beverly Stairs, and his Grandson Alexander Stairs.  His Niece Valerie (husband Jose) Rodriguez, and nephews Michael (wife Tracy) Miles, Robert and David Stairs.  Predeceased is his Brother Nathan.

There will be a viewing on 3/22/19 at 10am-Noon at Adobe Creek Funeral Home located at 331 Lakeville Street Petaluma, CA 94952 followed memorial services at 1pm. St. Helena Community Cemetery 2461 Spring St, St Helena, CA 94574.

All are welcome to join in a celebration of life on 3/23/19 2:00pm, Santa Rosa Veterans Building, Club Room, 1153 Maple Ave., Santa Rosa. His three wishes were “lots of beer, bbq, and country music.”
