On Monday, November 12, 2018, Douglas Bailey Olson, husband, father, brother and son, passed away suddenly at age 58. He will forever be remembered by his wife, Jill (married 29 years), precious children, Carter, Blake, Grant, and Caroline, mother, Virginia Cox Olson, brother Steven Olson (Julie Grow); sister Jill Glaser (Carl Glaser), and pre-deceased in death by his father Richard, and tragically just 9 months earlier (February, 2018) by his oldest brother Scott. Douglas will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Doug was born on May 13, 1960, in Santa Monica, California and raised in Denver, Colorado. He graduated high school from Kent Denver in 1978 and graduated college at the University of Arizona with a BA in Business in 1982. He worked many years in Commercial Real Estate and Leasing before joining his wife in Residential Appraising in 1998 and then founding Sonoma Coast Spirits in 2011.
Doug enjoyed, and was passionate about, skiing the mountain of Vail, Colorado; being part of the down-hill racing team at Vail; teaching his three sons how to ski; fly-fishing Wigwam in Colorado and the Big Horn river in Montana, (and any river he could find) and always seemed to come out with the largest fish. He also enjoyed hunting; playing lacrosse from fourth grade through college at the University of Arizona; and spending summers at the Olson Family Cottage on Basswood Lake in Ontario, Canada.
Doug was a co-founder of Petaluma Youth Lacrosse in 2004 and will forever leave his legacy on the community of Petaluma through his dedication and hard work in providing the youth of Petaluma the opportunity to play this wonderful sport called lacrosse.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, November 25th, at 1pm at the Petaluma Yacht Club. There will also be an Open House in Colorado to celebrate Douglas Olson on December 22, 1-4pm at 1897 Oak Creek Drive, Greenwood Village, Colorado. Questions for either celebration: Jill at 707-331-0718
