Erik Gordon Dohemann, peacefully passed away at the age of 59 on the 10th on of August 10, 2018 -surrounded by family and close friends. Erik was born in San Francisco on the 29th of July 29, 1959 to Karen (Jack) Doherty and Gordon (Sharon) Dohemann.

Erik was an extraordinary husband, father, brother, and friend who grew up in San Rafael where he attended San Rafael High School, class of 1977, before marrying Karen Moore Dohemann and moving to Novato where together they raised their three sons Carson, Trevor and Scott.

Erik believed deeply in family and being an active member of his community. He coached many Novato Youth Park & Recreation Sports teams. His Thanksgiving dinners, Margarita margarita parties, and BBQs were legendary…everyone was welcome. Erik loved spending time at Donner Lake, , Doyle Springs, and the California coast. He loved motorcycle riding, golfing, fishing, hiking, skiing, kayaking, cooking, traveling, attending concerts and playing guitar and piano. He retired in 2017 from San Francisco UA Local 38 after 35 years in Commercial Construction. An avid SF 49ers, Warriors and Giants fan, he attended MANY countless games with family and friends. Despite being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in his early 30’s, Erik never slowed down and set a high standard for all everyone around him. Erik loved and lived life well!

Erik Dohemann is survived by his father, Gordon Dohemann (Sharon), step-father, Jack Doherty, wife Karen and their three sons Carson, Trevor and Scott, his siblings: Dr. Jesse Dohemann, Linda (Miki) Dohemann, Russell Dohemann and Jason Doherty – not to mention a herd of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would also like to acknowledge the loving care and attention provided by Hospice by the Bay during his final days. His life will be celebrated at the San Geronimo Valley Golf Course at 1pm on August 16th, 2018.

As per Erik’s wishes, those who feel inspired are invited to celebrate his life through gifts to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Daraja Academy of Kenya.
