Gabriel “Kico” Carrillo was born on December 18, 1935 in San Francisco and passed away in Petaluma on January 26, 2018. Kico graduated from San Francisco’s PolyTechnic High School in 1955 where he is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. Kico married Carol, the love of his life in 1966 and doted on his daughter Christina born in 1974. There were few things Kico loved more than his family, his friends and the 49ers. Kico started working for Bob Ostrow-John Morrell & Co while in high school. He served six years in the Navy before returning to Bob Ostrow where he enjoyed a 37-year career with them. Kico’s final retirement came after spending 14 years as a warehouseman at San Quentin.
When he wasn’t working or coaching, Kico loved camping and sports. He made countless camping trips out to Cassini Ranch and Westside Park with family and friends. Kico loved the 49ers where he ushered for 58 years. He also spent 3 years as a ticket taker at Giant’s games. Kico was a tireless baseball and softball coach for kids’ teams for over 10 years and was a member of the Petaluma Elks Lodge 901.
He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Christina, siblings Mary Kenney, Robert Carrillo, in addition to many other family members.
