Gregory Haims of Santa Rosa, CA, passed away on October 22, 2017 after a long illness.

He was buried at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery as he served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War.

Greg was born in San Diego, CA on September 11, 1950. He graduated from Del Mar High in San Jose, CA and went on to receive his BA from Sacramento State University along with an MA and teaching credential from Sonoma State University.

Greg worked as a PE specialist for Cotati-Rohnert Park School District for a number of years. He also was the first tennis pro at Montecito Health and Racquet Club during the late 80’s and early 90’s.  He was well known in the Northern California Tennis Associations and held high rankings men’s singles and doubles titles throughout his tennis playing years.  He was a favorite teaching pro to many local tennis enthusiasts.  He was a classically trained musician playing his string bass the American Philharmonic and local Klezmer bands.

Ex-wife Lizbeth Hamlin, his son Cosmin Haims of Santa Rosa, his brother Tim Randles of Eureka, CA and step-bother and wife Kent and Patty Randles of Oregon, survives Greg.

Greg’s father Dr. Philip Haims, and his mother Norma Randles preceded him in death.
