Henry “Oly” Quan, a long time resident of Petaluma, passed away on December 6, 2018 in his home after a brave battle with cancer. Oly was born in San Rafael to Henry Dep Quan and Grace Quan on December 13, 1937 and lived with his family in historic China Camp, now a California State Park. He graduated from San Rafael High School in 1955. In 1956 he joined Carpenter’s Local 35 and began his lifelong career as a carpenter. In 1961 he joined the army and was on active duty until 1963, then he remained in the Army Reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1967. He received a Certificate of Achievement for exceptional fortitude and initiative during his time on active duty.

His daughter Wendy Ann Quan was born during his marriage with his then wife, Mary Ann in 1971. He later married Carole Ann Cush in 1987 who remained with him until his passing.
Oly enjoyed a lifelong passion of fishing, camping, and hunting. His last camping trip was to Oregon with his wife, Carole in October of 2018. He finally sold his commercial salmon fishing boat, the Two Anns, in 2012.

Oly is preceded in death by his brother, Frank Quan who passed in 2016, his parents Henry Dep Quan (1950) and Grace Quan (1971) all of China Camp. He is survived by his wife, Carole Ann Quan, his daughter Wendy, his sister Bertha Chew, age 91, his brother Milton Quan (Anita), and his beloved cousin, Georgette Dahlka, his brother in law Terry Cush (Lisa Cush), his wife’s aunt, Maureen Jorris, numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews and of course his beloved chocolate lab, Molly who remained at his side until the end.

Services will be held at Adobe Creek Funeral Home at 331 Lakeville Street, Petaluma, California on December 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests donations to Hospice of Petaluma in lieu of flowers. Final resting place shall be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California.
