A longtime Healdsburg resident, Jack passed on to his next assignment April 28, 2017. Born in 1931 to parents Jack and Lillian in Eureka, he is survived by wife Audrey, sons Paul and Earl, and grandchildren Emma, Kevin, Tyler, and Tate. Jack served the citizens of California his entire career. After growing up in park residences up and down the state, he graduated in Sebastopol from Analy High and worked for the school district as a bus driver/mechanic. Jack followed the footsteps of his Ranger father, securing a permanent position with the Division of Beaches & Parks in 1947. Transferring to the Division of Forestry in 1948, Jack was stationed in Mendocino and Sonoma counties before prematurely retiring in 1980 from job related injuries. He also gave three years active duty service to his country in the US Army, deploying during the Korean War as a Combat Engineer. Jack will be laid to rest with cousin Don Snider at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in lgo. A memorial will be held soon for family and friends.
