Our families trod a similar path for these many decades with many challenges, but more joys, triumphs, and celebrations that were shared and that we recounted to each other. Our favorite memory of Julia is from Fremont preschool when Julia And Jason used to sit side-by-side on the potty chairs when that was an important part of their curriculum. We understand how your family delighted in the gift of Julia, and hope that those precious memories will continue to be a comfort.

I had the pleasure and privilege of taking care of Julia for a few years as one of her docs. I have to say she was the strongest most positive person I have ever met. I always enjoyed my visits with her and feel that my life, both personally and professionally, has been enriched because of her. I will miss her and her bright smile.

Thanks to all the words of sympathy and love in this quest book. Julia's obituary allows me to grieve and come to terms about her passing. She was an important member of our family. So many tender moments of Aaron and Julia flood my memory: Julia packs her suitcase to spend the weekend with Aaron in his apartment even though her apartment is just 3 doors away. I purchase a gift card at Applebee's and buy tickets at the movie theater so A&J can have a dinner/movie date. They're quite capable of doing this on their own, but sometimes they use the money to buy cheese cake and junk food instead. We celebrate so many birthdays, Valentine's Days, and Christmases with presents, flowers, champagne and cake. Julia insists on celebrating the event on the proper date even if Valentine's Day falls on a Monday. Julia's health had been deteriorating for the past ten years with kidney disease. Her mother donated one of her kidneys for a transplant which worked for a few years, but then was rejected. Julia had dialysis three times a week which was time consuming and left her exhausted. This past year, she suffered many small strokes and seizures and spent two weeks in ICU prior to the commitment ceremony in July. We were so thankful that she was able to participate in that lovely ceremony. Julia was able to hold onto life as long as she could with the help of her positive attitude and joie de vivre which affected all of us in her life. She is missed! Aaron and Julia... what a love story!

To my cousin, friend, & soul-sister Julia... No star could shine quite as brightly (nor with as much glamour) as Julia Katherine... I will always treasure our moments going to the movies (like where this pic was taken at a theater photo booth!)...you always had great insight and analysis of what you liked and didn't like about a film, and you were always & yelling at the bad guys but then, when all came together, you were partial to those happy endings. I loved shopping and talking fashion choices with you, putting together outfits, going all around the Bay Area and SoCal on adventures.... But most of all, I miss your wonderful hugs, with your head landing right on my heart..."becca, becca, becca *sigh*"....I now wear your glittery barrette with pride, knowing that it is a symbol of that radiant stardust that encompassed your very being and sprinkled joy on all those around you 🙂 may we all hold this light, your light, & keep 'letting it shine' as you twinkle and dance in your heavenly home...

We are much saddened by the loss of sweet Julia . Yet we are also heartened by the happy memories she has left with all her many friends, especially with Aaron, for Julia and Aaron had a good journey together. Julia has has not gone, she is somewhere very near. Her laughter and her smile will always stay with us. With much affection, Don and Michel

Gail and family, I feel like I have been blessed to know Julia for the past decade. I have always enjoyed her company, especially when tagging along with us when we did fun things with her signifigant other. Her sweet demeanor and positive attitude had always been second to none. Additionally, she is the only person I know who could keep her “sweetie” in line. I am going to miss going over to her “honey’s” home, hearing them doting to one another on the phone, or hearing her voice on numerous answering machine messages that she would leave him on a daily basis. I am going to miss being an accomplice to picking out shirts, DVD’s, gift cards and Disney “anythings” for her as gifts. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to assist you guys. Love, Dan Wood (and family)

I work at the day program Julia worked at, and I must admit that I adored her from the moment we met. She attached herself to me, and she was basically an instant best friend. I drew from her energy at work, because things sometimes get tough, but I always loved that I could count on this little girl for three things: her smile, her hugs and when she called me her "special guy" at work when she saw me.. Her smile was infectious and lit up any room she walked into, her hugs were warm and amazing, and when she called me that name, I knew I was just absolutely gonna love this girl forever. Her love for life and everyone in it truly tugs at the heart strings, and it constantly reminds me that we all have special people in our lives to cling to when things got rough. I love Julia very much, and I will truly miss her. Not a day goes by that I don't miss her spirit, her energy, everything about her just made life seem so beautiful. And it is, because Julia made it that way.

From the day I first set eyes on little "Julie" West at Fremont Preschool, it was so very obvious that she was a charmer. She was delightful and oh so cute! My son, "Jamie," who was also in the class must have noticed, too, because he was thrilled to have her as his prom date in high school many years later. In all those years and even in those challenging ones since then, we have always admired Julia's spunkiness, playful, sparkling eyes and smile, and her ability to bring joy to others just by being her very beautiful self. You are dearly missed by so many, Julia, but we know you really needed a rest. Be at peace. With love, Deb

I think of Julia every time I get in the pool at the Airport club. Next time I'm in the there I will do a handstand or two in her honor.. She loved doing handstands in the pool over and over again. She was so proud because her brother Greg taught her how to do them, and she was really good at it. Rest in peace Miss Julia. Big hug and much love Gail
