Larry McManus, June 24, 1933 ~ February 22, 2018, also known as the poor Irish immigrant, died peacefully and joyfully at home with his family by his side. Larry was born in Dublin, Ireland to Joseph and Rose McManus. He is preceded in death by his sisters Maura, Phyllis, and Rosemary. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Bridget and three children; Deirdre Goetze (Tom), Shane, Mark (Katie), his sister Ita Greene and four grandchildren, Owen, Ciara, Myles and Liam. After marrying Bridget in Dublin, they sailed the high seas to California. Larry worked as a salesman covering northern California, which suited him down to the ground as he loved to talk and meet people. He had the gift of the gab, always full of good humor and ready to make people laugh. Larry saw the good in people and made friends with everyone he met. He will be remembered for his upbeat, positive, humorous disposition. He would always say “99% of people are good!” He coached youth soccer for many years in Mill Valley. Larry often took his family back to Ireland on vacation, although his heart was always in California. He loved the view of Mt. Tam as he drove to daily mass. Larry’s unshakeable Catholic faith guided his life and returned him home to God. The funeral mass will be celebrated March 10 at 11am at the church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Mill Valley. Donations in Larry’s name may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Adobe Creek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Petaluma.
