Obituaries » Lise D'Haiti May 21, 1920 - January 17, 2018 Lise D’Haiti passed away on January 17, 2018 at her son’s home. She was 97.
Ms. D’Haiti was one of two children born in L’Asile, Haiti to Sophilise Macellus and Luciance D’Haiti. “Mammy Lise,” as she was known, professed her life to Christ at an early age. Though she lacked a formal education, Lise valued education greatly. She began working when she was young, and at the age of 15, Lise moved to Port-au-Prince with help from her cousin, Asane. In Haiti’s capital, she worked as a maid and babysitter for a wealthy family.
In 1970, Lise immigrated to the United States with her youngest daughter. She worked tirelessly as a housekeeper during the day, and as a babysitter to fellow Haitian family members in the evening, in order to bring her other children to the U.S. Lise took great pride in her work ethic and her ability to accomplish her goals.
Mammy Lise deeply treasured spending time with family and friends. She had a great love for those around her and devoted her time to ensure their well-being. Lise was a great cook and excellent baker – her zucchini cake was one-of-a-kind, and she was always quick to share her cakes with others.
She was preceded in death by two of her children: Denise Pierre Louis, age 54, and Jeannot Pierre Louis, 66. Funeral Services will be held, Sunday, January 28, 2018 10:00 am at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary, 1700 Pleasant Hill Road, Sebastopol, California. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Committal Services will immediately follow the service on the grounds at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements in the care of Adobe Creek Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Petaluma, California
