I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I never personally met Mr. Luke, but I did read his book and enjoyed learning about Alcatraz from the perspective of an inmate. My mother-in-law actually purchased the book for my son and me and had Mr. Luke sign it. I will forever treasure it. Thank you for sharing him with the world.

We’re so proud and happy to have known Bob. He was a wonderful brother in law, a loving, gentle husband to Ida! So many adventures in his life and yours, many great memories. We hope in this time of mourning that we can be of some help in any way...Your big brother loves you so much!

What an honor it was to have met him, to hear his stories and how they where told was amazing and a times even serious, he could put humor with it. I had the chance to meet him back several years ago, 2010-11 at the Rock. Not knowing he was there til that day of arrival. What a treat that was, was worth the price of admission alone to get to see, hear, speak and shake hands with this man. As one of the last ex-alcatrazians you will always be remembered not by your troubled past but by all the lives you have touched throughout your life. With the low points of your life made you who you were, and why you became as well known as you were. Even not as 1118AZ, but as the man Robert Luke, you had other points in your life that made you even more amazing that you could have been. Thanks for sharing your life with us all. You will be truly missed by many.
