Wesley Junior Cox  “Wes” of Rohnert Park, CA passed away December 25, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, Santa Rosa, CA.    He was born  July 31, 1927 the son of John Wesley Cox  “Ted” and ­­­­­Audrey (McCullough) Cox,   born in Iowa and lived most of his life in Illinois.    Wesley is survived by his wife of 70 years Virginia (Karsten) Cox whom he married  on October 12, 1946 and his four children, John Wesley  Cox III and wife Judy, Jeffrey Stephen Cox, Leslie Karsten  Cox and wife Carol and Vicki Nadine Wilson and husband Sam.

Wes worked on a dairy farm when he was young, became a well driller and machinist and then worked for International Harvester for 32 years as an R&D welder and fabricator.   Wes was a self taught musician and the leader and lead singer for the band Wes and the Plainsmen for 23 years in Northern Illinois.  When he retired he moved to Natchitoches, Louisiana where he lived for 22 years before moving to California where he spent the last eight years.

Wes is also survived by his grandchildren:  Jennifer Shannon Cox, Jason Dale Murawske, Stephanie Karsten Marie Cox-de Canjura, April Dawn (Murawske)Wiltshire­­­,  Joshua Caleb Cox,  Jessica Karsten (Cox) Lindsey, Jenaea Marie Cox, Travis Cole Murawske,  Karsten Mary Paxton Cox.   As well as his Great Grandchildren:  Anastasia Marie (Cox)  King, Xavyer Stephen Cox,  Halle Kristine Murawske, Austin Steven Roman, Jaiden Ariana Roman, Jaylynn Karsten Shortridge,  Makayla Marie Murawske , Connor Dale Murawske,  Morgan Conrad Lindsey, Colton Dale Murawske and  Great Great Grandchild:   Emmileah Marie Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  his brother Rolland Claire Cox “Jack”  and his grandson Leslie Justin Cox.

A Memorial Services will be held at Adobe Creek Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 331 Lakeville Street, Petaluma, CA on Saturday, January 7th at 10:00 AM    He will be inurned at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, IL at a future date.
